The issue remains unaddressed in Affinity 2. Make sure to turn off the 'Use small taskbar buttons. It should bring you to Personalization window and select the Taskbar tab. Right click on the Taskbar and select Taskbar Settings. You can actually change this via the Settings. I can see that you find the icons in your Taskbar small.
